Council issue reminder for Harton residents to apply for by-election postal vote

Voters are being asked to check upcoming deadlines for the Harton by-election.

South Tyneside Council has issued a reminder to residents of the Harton ward to apply for a postal vote if that is their preferred way of voting.

Taking place on Thursday, August 6, voters are being called to the polls again in an upcoming by-election contest triggered by the recent resignation of Reform UK councillor Alex Clarke.

There is now less than one week for residents who wish to vote by post to apply for their ballot.

After Wednesday, July 22 anyone in the ward wishing to cast a vote for the by-election must do so in person.

Postal votes can be applied for through the Government website or by calling the Council on 0191 427 7000 for a paper form.

The full list of candidates for the Council seat was released this week. In total seven people will run in the by-election.
