South Tyneside Council announces changes to how residents can dispose of real Christmas trees
Changes have been made to how members of the public can dispose of real Christmas trees in South Tyneside.
South Tyneside Council has announced changes to real Christmas tree collections ahead of the upcoming festive season.
The local authority has stated that real Christmas trees will no longer be collected from parks or previous collection points.

It means that residents will now have to take their real Christmas tree to the Recycling Village.
Alternatively, those who subscribe to the garden waste collection service can cut their tree down and place it inside their garden waste bin.
When purchasing a real Christmas tree, you can also ask the seller if they offer a take-back or recycling service after Christmas.
Local Christmas tree collection services may also be available - you can check eligibility through Grace House at: https://gracehouse.co.uk/event/christmas-tree-collection-3/ or Community Transport via: https://www.communitytransport.org/christmas-tree-recycling/.
Members of the public are asked not to leave Christmas trees in parks, at former collection points or in back lanes.
Any trees left at these locations will be treated as fly-tipping.
