Man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a hit and run in Jarrow

The incident happened shortly before 7pm on Saturday, December 12 when the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called to the Bede Trading Estate in Jarrow.
When emergency services arrived, they discovered a man who had been involved in a collision with a vehicle on Jarrow Road – which had since left the scene.

Hide AdThe injured male was taken to the RVI, where he remains with non-life threatening injuries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7pm we were alerted by the ambulance service to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the Bede Trading Estate.
“Officers attended and found a vehicle had been in collision with a male pedestrian. The car had then made off from the scene.
“The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life threatening injuries.

Hide Ad“An investigation was launched to trace the driver and a 25-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
"He remains in police custody at this time.”
"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and two hazardous response teams. A male patient was transported to the RVI with multiple injuries."
