Man charged following police raid in South Shields

Northumbria Police has confirmed a 51-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and is due to appear before magistrates after police raided a house in Wenlock Road, South Shields.
The force was initially called to reports that a man had been assaulted in Wenlock Road, in the Simonside area, at around 6.25pm on Saturday, July 25.

Hide AdAn investigation was launched into what police referred to as an ‘isolated incident’.


One man is believed to have suffered minor injuries which police say were ‘consistent with a bladed article’.
The man is due to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on August 27.
