Man charged following police raid in South Shields

A man has been charged after police raided a property following reports of an assault in South Shields.

Northumbria Police has confirmed a 51-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and is due to appear before magistrates after police raided a house in Wenlock Road, South Shields.

An investigation was launched into what police referred to as an ‘isolated incident’.

One man is believed to have suffered minor injuries which police say were ‘consistent with a bladed article’.

The man is due to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on August 27.
