Police release image of man they want to identify after reported rape in South Shields

Detectives investigating a reported rape have released the image of a man they would like to identify.

Northumbria Police received a report a woman was raped after a night out.

It was reported that she was drinking at a bar and later met a man who she walked home with.

It is then alleged that she was raped in her home.

Police said enquiries are ongoing into the incident and the victim is being supported by officers.

As part of their enquiries, police have identified a man who they would like to speak to in connection with the offence.

He was believed to be in the area at the same time as the victim and could have information that can assist officers with the investigation.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting log 0676 06/07/2021.
