Vandals graffiti park mural by South Tyneside Community Group
The mural in the Jarrow park was a collaboration between the community group and South Shields’ Arts4Wellbeing who created piece last summer to cover up an old wall and bring some colour to an area of the park that had been forgotten about.
The designed was based on the original balustrades which were a main feature of the park when it opened, with two artists spending a whole day to create the artwork.

A committee member at the Primrose Parks Alliance told the Gazette of the impact that it has on the group but promised that work will continue to improve the parks despite the set back.
They said: “It is a shame to see it happen, members of the public see if lovely piece of art but they might not realise how much effort has gone in behind the scenes to create it.
