Will Osula, Matias Fernandez-Pardo & Lewis Miley: Newcastle United injury return dates

Will Osula, Matias Fernandez-Pardo & Lewis Miley: Newcastle United injury list & return dates.

Newcastle United’s 3-1 defeat to Everton in the Carabao Cup was compounded by another injury concern.

The Magpies were trailing 2-0 at half-time, prompting boss Matthias Jaissle to make a triple substitution, bringing on Yoane Wissa, Anthony Elanga and Joelinton in place of Will Osula, Harvey Barnes and Jacob Ramsey.

But they were unable to help United find a way back into the game. Thierno Barry made it 3-0 midway through the second half before Dan Burn headed in a late consolation.

After the game, Jaissle was asked about his half-time changes and revealed Osula had to withdraw with an ankle injury, having only recently returned from the same problem.

The 23-year-old, who scored in Newcastle’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace last weekend, is now a doubt heading into Monday’s Premier League clash against the Toffees at St James’ Park.

And he isn’t the only one with question marks over his name. Here, we take a look at Newcastle’s injury list and expected return dates:

Will Osula

Osula was forced off at half-time during the 3-1 defeat at Everton after taking a heavy whack to the ankle following a blocked shot by James Tarkowski.

What’s Matthias Jaissle said?

“Will Osula was not able to continue; he twisted his ankle on that occasion when he took the shot.”

Will he be back on Monday? “It's too early at the moment.”

Expected return date

TBC

Matias Fernandez-Pardo & Lewis Miley

Fernandez-Pardo felt unwell during the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa and has now missed the last two games against Crystal Palace and Everton through illness.

Miley has also been missing for those matches with a glute issue.

What’s Matthias Jaissle said?

Sorry, right now I cannot give you an update on them. Hopefully they can make progress in the next days to be able to maybe make it in the squad, but right now I cannot update you really.”

Expected return date

Everton (H), 02/11.

Tino Livramento

Livramento was set to make his first start for Newcastle since April against Hull City in September but picked up a knee injury on the eve of the game.

What’s Matthias Jaissle said?

“I don't want to give too much in detail, as I don't want to put too much pressure on him first of all, but also not on the medical department. This is usually my approach when it comes to injuries.

“I can just assure you that I see him every day with a great professionalism in the rehab, hard-working. Hopefully we have him back soon and then also hope that he's stable in his approach when he's joining us.”

Expected return date

Arsenal (H) 21/11.

Ewen Jaouen

Jaouen hasn’t been named in a matchday squad since August. The Frenchman suffered a knee injury but recovered in time to link up with France under-21s, where he then picked up a hamstring injury.

What’s Matthias Jaissle said?

“Ewen was a difficult one with the hamstring, he will be out for a couple of months but the rest should be okay.”

Expected return date

TBC.
