'Feared he'd be killed' - South Shields machete attacker put behind bars
South Shields machete attacker put behind bars - the latest from crown court.
A man who struck another with a machete leaving him fearing for his life has been put behind bars.

Caydon Sean hit his victim on his arm, wrist and head after travelling to a flat on Downham Court in South Shields at 8pm on December 4 2025.
The 23-year-old then fled the scene, later handing himself in to a police station but the machete involved has never been found.

A trial at Newcastle Crown Court in June found Sean, of Crofton Street in South Shields, guilty of wounding with intent but acquitted him of possession of an offensive weapon.
Today (THURS) Sean appeared at the same court via video link from HMP Durham for sentencing.
Prosecuting, Joe Hedworth said that there was a "degree of planning" in the attack, and it was later revealed that text messages on Sean's phone confirmed he had a "hostility" towards his victim.
The court also heard that Sean's victim "genuinely feared he was going to be killed".
However, the court heard there is a "different side" to Sean, who has recently been baptised in prison, is engaging with chaplaincy but is immature.
A letter written to Judge Edward Bindloss from Sean himself said he is trying to "change for the better".
Judge Bindloss sentenced Sean, who has three previous convictions for 11 offences including flipping a car during a high speed police chase, to four years and nine months in prison.
He added: "You used the machete immediately after your arrival.
"I have no doubt that this had something to do with some sort of debt."
