First pictures from scene of South Shields horror crash after man is pronounced dead

A man has been pronounced dead in South Shields after a car crashed into a house in the early hours of Friday, January 24.

Emergency services attended the town’s Chichester Road at around 4.15am following reports that a vehicle, a white Audi S3, had collided with a house. These are the first pictures from the scene.

Inspector Phil Baker, of Northumbria Police, said: "This is very serious incident which has sadly resulted in the death of a man. A formal identification is now underway and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
