Golf football: Sunderland and Newcastle legends put best feet forward for launch of new sport

Black Cats and Magpies legends Gary Bennett and Steve Howey put club rivalries aside for the launch of a new sport at Ramside Hall Hotel this afternoon.

FootGolf is exactly what it sounds like - golf played with footballs on specially designed courses with oversized holes.

Ramside Hall is the North East’s newest UK FootGolf accredited golf venue and is launching the first North East FootGolf Series in partnership with CSL Events.

An important part of the series will be to raise funds for Butterwick Hospice and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Benno was impressed: "It's great - I really enjoyed it," he said.

"It's something a lot of players do in training and I think it's going to be really popular."
