Jarrow Hall start project asking local people to tell their stories for future generations
A new oral history project has kicked off in Jarrow, and the team want help from the public.
Jarrow Hall is asking local residents to tell stories of their lives as part of a project to inspire future generations.

Starting on Monday, July 20, the site’s Oral History Project is encouraging visitors from across South Tyneside to explain life in the borough down the years as a way to protect the region’s history for years to come.

Staff at the museum will be taking recordings of stories that visitors would like to share on site and showing off some of finds from the last two years.
The project is run by the Council for British Archaeology Festival of Archaeology and it is hoped the oral storytelling will allow Jarrow residents of the future to learn about day to day life from their lifetime.
Anyone wanting to get involved and tell their story of North East life can head to Jarrow Hall on weekdays until Friday, July 31.
