Jarrow's Abi Garrido set to light up Newcastle

South Tyneside singing star Abi Garrido has been lined up to perform at Newcastle's Christmas lights switch on.

Abi Garrido will be switching on the Christmas lights in Newcastle

The teenager from Jarrow who made it to the judge’s houses of the X Factor in 2014 will be joined by radio presenter’s Steve and Karen.

The annual event will take place at Grey’s Monument on Thursday starting at 5.30pm with the actual switch-on happening at 6.30pm.

Abi said: “It’s always amazing to perform in your home city especially on such a special night. I love looking out into the crowd and seeing everyone enjoying themselves, singing along and being all Christmassy. “
