Man arrested in South Tyneside is charged with violent disorder
Detective says investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to pursue all available lines of enquiry to trace suspects.
A man suspected of involvement in riots in Sunderland city centre two years ago has been arrested in South Tyneside.

Arron Wright, 27, was detained by police at the Port of Tyne in South Shields earlier this month.
Police would not disclose why Wright, of Wordsworth Avenue West, Houghton-le-Spring, was at that location.
He has been charged with violent disorder relating to disturbances on Tuesday, September 1, 2024.
Violence in the city was part of widespread disorder across the country, sparked by the murder of three children in Southport.
Wright appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, where he was bailed ahead of another court appearance next month.
Separately, a 19-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Barr, of Northumbria Police, said: “Two years on, we remain committed to identifying those involved in the disorder and ensuring they are held accountable for their actions.
“Our investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to pursue all available lines of enquiry to trace and locate outstanding suspects, no matter where they may be.
“I hope these arrests and this charge demonstrate that we will not stop in our efforts to bring those involved to justice.”
