Here we have nine beautiful dogs hoping to find their forever home this Summer.
Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter helps animals across the region who are lost, unwanted, neglected, abused or abandoned. And they help find new homes for those ready for a new family.
Amongst their selection, there are German Shepherds, Dachshunds and Belgian Shepherds- as well as some gorgeous crossbreeds.
Today you’ll get to meet: Phoenix, Jack, Saphie, Royal, Poppy, Luna, Bowie, Pico, Bramble, Bailey and Rio.

9. Bramble (Terrier crossbreed, two years)
Bramble arrived into our care as a stray so we, sadly, have no history on what she may have been like in her previous home. Bramble was a very anxious little girl during her first days with us and still has moments of feeling nervous, unsure, and a little overwhelmed by her new surroundings. However, little Bramble is beginning to really open up and once she has got to know you, she is the sweetest, most adorable little lady! Bramble will need a family who are happy to be patient, calm and understanding with her, allowing her to come out of her shell in her own time and giving her the space to build up trust and a bond at her pace. We have no doubt it will be an absolute pleasure to watch Bramble learn and grown and begin to truly blossom into the confident little terrier we simply know is hiding inside, waiting to emerge! | NDCS Photo: Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

10. Bailey (Lurcher, three years)
Bailey is a wonderful boy who has a winning personality and looks to match. Bailey has always been super sweet and friendly, and is a firm favourite here at the shelter. Bailey arrived into our care in a very poor state, with dirty ears and itchy skin. Bailey has received medication for his ears and has been a saint for his drops, bathing and has generally just been an all round good boy who is always happy to see people! We don’t know much of Bailey’s history but have been informed he was a working dog, meaning he may pose some challenges with a high prey drive, and may need a little extra work to acclimatise to a home environment. Bailey’s new family will need to be patient with him, understanding he hasn’t had the normal life of a pet dog so far and will need to be shown what is expected of him in his new role as a pet. Bailey, however, truly deserves a loving family to show him the way life should be, and spoil him rotten as he begins to enjoy life as a pampered pooch! | NDCS Photo: Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

11. Rio (American Bully cross, one year)
Rio is your typical young Bully with the term ‘bull in a china shop’ being a perfect way to describe him! Rio is a fun boy with bags of character who can get over excited easily, and this is displayed in a variety of ways, but most notably through him being vocal and humping! Rio has shown some mild discomfort around other dogs, so we would advise he is best kept at a comfortable distance when out and about for his walks allowing him the space to enjoy his adventures without the pressure of facing other dogs. Rio would be best suited to owners who have experience of boisterous bull breeds, who aren’t fazed by his over-exuberant ways, and who are prepared for a bit of chaos when he first goes home! | NDCS Photo: Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
