Metro teams warn of overnight noise at track works continue
Nexus is warning noise from overnight work may impact residents this week.
Nexus, the team behind the Tyne and Wear Metro have confirmed further track work may impact residents living close to the line between Pelaw and South Shields over the coming week.
The last few weeks have seen no metro services run between Pelaw and South Hylton, impacting some parts of South Tyneside and now additional track work will run on another line.

However, unlike the previous work which saw full-weekend closures in place, overnight improvements are expected to keep services running to schedule.
Metro teams have warned anyone near the Pelaw to South Shields line this may result in loud noise to complete work after the final service of the day and before the first of the following morning.
On Tuesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 23 track signalling maintenance and lineside litter clearing may cause disruption on the full line between Hebburn and South Shields.
Further disruption may occur on Tuesday, July 21 between Hebburn and Tyne Dock when track maintenance will see welding and griding taking place through the night. Nexus has warned welding and grinding equipment will be used and will be heard by houses nearby.
The final overnight noise warning will be in place in the early hours of Friday, July 24 between Hebburn and Jarrow. Overhead line maintenance and renewal will see specialist vehicles attend the stretch of track to work.
Nexus regularly update households near tracks on upcoming overnight work through the Travel North East website.
