Officers and animal lovers pay tribute to police dog


Northumbria Police posted a farewell to German shepherd Brodie online, honouring his time service with the force.
In a Facebook post, police said: "Some sad news today, recently retired PD Bodie passed away last night after a short illness.

Hide Ad"Bodie was a force bred puppy born in 2006, who was licenced to patrol the streets of Northumbria from October 2007. During his time on the streets Bodie excelled as a Police Dog, being involved in numerous high profile incidents & producing some outstanding results.
"In 2010 Bodie made the step up to become a Firearms Support Dog, working with our firearms teams, a standard that only the very best of our dogs achieve.
"Bodie was a big dog who will be a big miss to us all."
Pet lovers also joined in saying goodbye to the hound.
Wayne Wilson said: "Don't be sad when a working dog walks over the rainbow bridge he is just clearing the path ahead and making the other side safer for everyone else x a loss to those left behind but an asset to all the other pups on the other side x"
Debbie Rose Hinds said: "Rip Bodie a proper dog with a proper job to do, he must of had the most stimulated brain going, and loved his pack leader."
