Involve Fitness wants to give back to key workers who supported the country during the national lockdown and are offering a free unlimited weekly pass.

It is a community-focused group, which aims to support people’s physical and mental health through exercise.

After such a challenging time for key workers, Involve wanted to give back to key workers and ensure they are supported both mentally and physically.

Involve Fitness instructors supporting mental health

A spokesman for Involve Fitness said: “We are extremely grateful to all key-workers who have worked through these difficult times. We feel it's important to give something back to these amazing people, as you know we are also massively focused on 'exercise and mental health.

“We understand that it has been such an extremely challenging time, it's a chance to get out and let off steam and socialise to eliminate any feelings of isolation and to make them feel energised.”

And the team said they were “blown away” by the response after instructors hosted online workout sessions, and posting their own personal stories about their experiences of battling with mental health.

Lynsey Baxter, one of the instructors, said at the time: “We’ve had so many people tuning into our live sessions throughout the week, we have been blown away by it.

“All the instructors have told stories of their own mental health journeys to show people they are not alone.”

One viewer commented: “For me, fitness is an escapism. Whether it’s at the gym or out for a run, that bit of exercise is my time. It gives me a chance to escape, think and reflect.”

The team Involve coaches have been running free online sessions to the community from the beginning of lockdown until the end of August and recently returned to physical sessions in September, at their home in Luke’s Lane, Hebburn.
