Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall and mam Norma share 12 Layers of Christmas challenge videos in support of Cancer Connections
The South Shields pop star and her mother are long-term supporters of the South Tyneside charity, and have been helping it share the message about its 12 Layers of Christmas fundraiser.
It challenges people to put on items and accessories to the timing of the 12 Days of Christmas song and share it on social media, with donations to the funds welcome as it continues to help those affected by the disease across the borough.
The effort was raised on the Cancer Connection social media sites yesterday, Saturday, December 5, with the organisation in need of as much cash as possible, after the coronavirus crisis impacted on its fundraising events.
Norma has shared her video on Tik Tok and Instagram, while Jade also added her to her Instagram stories feed as she urged people to get involved.
Both make a grab for clothes, hats, bags and more as they pile on items to the timing of the song.
Jade, a patron of Cancer Connections, told followers through its social media channels as she took over its accounts: “I challenge you to the 12 Layers of Christmas challenge, all you need is yourself and 12 layers.
"You can be as fun as you want, as inventive as you want, as creative as you want, you can involve friends and family, as long as you have some fun.
"If you can donate, that’s amazing, if you can’t just raise awareness and support.
"Share your posts and get everyone knowing Cancer Connections.”
The Thirlwalls and Deborah Roberts, who leads the charity, hope the effort will bring cheer and raise plenty of laughs after a difficult year.
While it has already missed out on months of fundraisers, it will also go without cash raised through its annual Boxing Day Dip, which has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid restrictions, and usually brings in £15,000.
