Linda Lindsay, Natalie’s mum, said: “Natalie had schizophrenia and though it ultimately caused this tragedy - it doesn’t define her as a person.

“Our Natalie was funny, kind, friendly, with the ability to warm your heart with her smile, her laugh and silly stories.

“She would chat to anyone and make you feel important to her even if you had just met. She loved to sing along to all the music even though she couldn’t hold a note.”

Linda says Natalie’s mental health impacted her life greatly and the schizophrenia was ‘unyielding’, even with medication, but she faced the world every day.

Northumbria Police are continuing the search for Natalie who has not been seen since leaving her home in the Mill Dam area last month.

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, the 58-year-old said: “I have now seen CCTV of the last sighting of Natalie – she walks down past the right hand side of Skate Park and disappears from view onto the sands.
