South Shields singer's delight as his song features on Luke T and Siannise's Love Island date
Sonny Tennet started his music career playing in local pubs at just 13-years-old with help from his dad, who was a singer in a band called ‘Pineapple Head.’
He was spotted by his management a few years later and, being influenced by Stevie Wonder and James Morrison, he supported James on tour last year.
Now, his music is constantly recognised by fans.

Sonny said: “I quickly unmuted it and caught the last bit, luckily. It’s rare to get your song played but I’m so happy it did! It was a great feeling.
“I have been watching. My song couldn’t have been played at a better time!
“The strongest couple confessing their love for each other and even a little slow-mo dance at the end. I’m team Luke and Siannise all the way.”

He added: “It’s a true story. I was going through a rough time with relationships and my mam said ‘just let love come to you rather than going out looking for it’ and I thought it was a great idea for a song.”
His song ‘Princess’ also featured on an episode of The Only Way is Essex a couple of years ago.
Sonny says the teachers at Harton Technology College were always supportive of his love for music.

Recently, he has been back in London and says he has some “really exciting songs” to come.
The Love Island final airs on Sunday, February 23 on ITV2.
