Time running out to get your North East Apprentice Award nominations in
The North East Apprenticeship Awards aims to celebrate the individuals and organisations driving the region’s skills agenda – honouring apprentices, employers and training providers who are playing a vital role in developing the workforce of the future.
With 14 categories, the awards shine a spotlight on outstanding achievement across the apprenticeship landscape, highlighting individuals and organisations which demonstrate excellence, commitment and impact.

And for 2026, the awards’ charity partner is Feeding Families, which is dedicated to tackling food insecurity through dignified, community-led support.
We have nine categories dedicated to apprentices, one of which is best construction apprentice.

This accolade was won last year by Olivia Hastie of Enlighten Limited. Her nomination read: “As the only female in her cohort, she navigates the challenges of a male-dominated field with strength and determination, defying gender stereotypes and proving that skill knows no gender.
"Olivia's commitment to learning is evident in her eagerness to take on tasks and her meticulous work ethic. Despite facing personal challenges, including ongoing anxiety and a serious medical setback requiring surgery, she has shown remarkable courage and focus in her apprenticeship.
"Academically, she consistently excels, achieving top marks and demonstrating a keen ability to apply complex technical knowledge in practical settings. Olivia not only embodies excellence in her own right but also inspires others, serving as a role model for young women aspiring to enter trades.”
Nominations are open to apprentices themselves, as well as employers, colleges and training providers. The categories also recognise employers and mentors, allowing businesses to nominate teams and individuals who go above and beyond to support apprentice development.
Entries must be submitted online via www.neapprenticeshipawards.co.uk before t8pm on Wednesday, April 22.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held on Thursday, June 25 at St James’ Park in Newcastle.
To be eligible to enter, applicants must live, work or train within the region and have been enrolled on their apprenticeship programme for at least 12 months prior to the event date.
Entries may be submitted by the apprentice, employer or training provider.
