Watch the moment Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall makes superfan's dream come true
Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall took time out of her busy schedule to pay a visit to a devoted young fan from her home town.
Global superstar Jade, 27, made a young fans dream come true when she visited them at the home of South Shields charity Cancer Connections, in Harton Lane.
Jade has been a patron for the charity for a number of years and regularly returns to her home town to help the organisation raise funds.
A huge Little Mix fan, Georgia won the chance to meet Jade after taking part in a fundraising bonus ball for the charity.
A Cancer Connections ball was held at the Hedworth Hall in South Shields on November 29, where a number of items signed by Jade were auctioned, along with the chance to have a meet and greet with the singer.
Georgia, who is studying catering and business at South Tyneside College, was accompanied by dad George, 51, a mobile DJ, and mum Lynn, 55, who is her carer.
The 17-year-old, who lives at The Nook, has seen Little Mix 17 times and has every piece of merchandise possible, from a rug to pyjamas.
Georgia, who has celebral palsy, presented Jade with a bag full of gifts as they met for the second time, following on from a visit to the Thompson home back in 2011.
The two share a love of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and chatted about the show which Jade appeared on as a guest judge on.
Before they met, Georgia said: “I just want to cry, I’m shaking because I’m so excited.
“This means everything to me.”
Lynn added: “It's very emotional for the family.
“Every Christmas she says ‘Can I meet Jade, can I meet Little Mix’ and she’s coming up to her 18th birthday this year, so it’s a big year for us all.”
After their meet up, Jade said: “It’s so important, I’ve been working with Cancer Connections since I was 12, I’ve sang at fundraisers, and I’ve had family I have lost to cancer and so I know how great it is for them and also the local community and the friends and family that are helped as well.
“It’s really important for me to support it and I always will.
“Georgia has been a fan since she was little, eight-years-old, and she’s been to every single tour.
“To meet her again was lovely and it’s giving something back after she has done so much for me.”
Cancer Connections co-founder and manager Deborah Roberts said that Jade’s fundraising efforts have raised £4,000 for the charity.
Deborah said: “It is an absolute privilege that Jade is so involved in the charity.
“From doing the Boxing Day Dip every year to giving up her time, she is always prepared to do what she can to support the charity.
“She is so down to earth and so humble.
“Jade is so proud to be our patron and she loves being a part of the work we do.”
Other youngsters were also invited to join in a wider meet at greet at the charity’s base.
