The local authority has stated that the closure will allow for some “remedial flooring work” to be carried out.

During the closure period, all facilities will be closed to the public, with the exception of the gym.

The Council has confirmed that the gym will be accessible by a temporary entrance at the rear of the building.

A spokesperson for South Tyneside Council commented: “We apologise for any inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we complete this essential work.”

Hebburn Central is expected to reopen fully to members of the public on Wednesday, November 11.
