South Tyneside schools host open evenings for Y6 and Y11 pupils - here's where and when
There are open evenings for South Tyneside schools.
A multi-academy trust in the North East, which has celebrated above average A Level and GCSE results across the board, has announced a series of open evenings for students in Years 6 and 11, including at two schools in South Tyneside.
The Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust (BCCET) has 31 schools across the South Tyneside, Sunderland and East Durham area. These include four sixth forms and five secondary schools with Good or Outstanding Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) ratings.
The two schools in the borough of South Tyneside are St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Hebburn and St Wilfrid’s RC College which is in South Shields.
The combined GCSE results of the trust’s schools were higher than the national average. Across the five schools in the area, 56% of the trust’s GCSE grades were between 9 - 5 (the national average is 55%) and 73% of GCSE grades were 9 - 4 (national average 70%).
St Joseph’s Catholic Academy achieved its highest A Level results in the past four years with over 75% of students attaining A*-C grades or their vocational equivalent, and 100% pass rate for BTECs with an average grade Distinction.
The class of 2026 at St Wilfrid’s RC College achieved an impressive overall average grade of B at A Level, and 84% of all grades awarded at A* to C and 28% achieved at A* to A.
More than two-thirds of technical qualification grades were awarded at Distinction* to Distinction, while students studying technical qualifications achieved remarkable success, with 100% of technical qualifications graded at Merit or above.
Y6 open evenings are as follows:
St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, 50 Mill Lane, Hebburn, NE31 2ET – Thursday, September 24, 5pm - 7pm.
St Wilfrid’s RC College, Temple Park Road, South Shields, NE34 0QA – Thursday, October 1, 4pm - 6pm.
Sixth form open evenings will take place:
St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, 50 Mill Lane, Hebburn, NE31 2ET – Thursday, November 12, 5.30pm - 7.30pm.
St Wilfrid’s RC College, Temple Park Road, South Shields, NE34 0QA – Thursday, November 19, 4pm - 6pm.
