South Shields bus gate enforcement camera set to be switched on - this is when

A new enforcement camera has been installed at a South Shields bus gate.

South Tyneside Council has announced that a new enforcement camera has been installed at an existing South Shields bus gate.

The gate on Dead Road, near the A194 junction, aims to stop general traffic travelling north from the A194 roundabout onto Dean Road.

In doing so, it looks to help keep the junction safe by allowing buses to enter Dean Road safely and reduce the risk of collisions.

The bus gate is already in place and South Tyneside Council has confirmed that the camera is being introduced to enforce the existing restriction.

It means that the local authority is not creating a new restriction.

The camera will start operating from Monday, November 9.

Drivers who use the bus gate when they are not allowed may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
