South Tyneside digital centre is booming
Today, Coun John Anglin, the council’s lead member for regeneration and economy, outlines the council’s work at the One Trinity Green business centre.
Occupancy at business centre One Trinity Green is growing rapidly, with the number of businesses increasing by almost 25 per cent in the last six months.
The number of employees based in the workspace, which is owned and managed by South Tyneside Council, has nearly doubled in the same period.
Invest South Tyneside – the council’s inward investment team – provides a programme of activity at the business centre specifically geared towards supporting the tech and digital sector.
Coun John Anglin, South Tyneside Council’s lead member for regeneration and economy, said: “We know that people in the borough are concerned about job and career opportunities ICT and digital is one of our priority sectors. We have a tremendous amount of talent and digital innovation in the borough.
“We have been working hard to position One Trinity Green as the location of choice for digital and tech companies and those efforts are paying off as it is developing into a vibrant community.
He added: “We’re getting more and more businesses with growth aspirations choosing One Trinity Green as their premises because we provide the ideal environment and support to allow them to scale their operation.”
John Cave, 34, founded digital marketing agency Biddible three years ago before moving on to establish Shoptimised - an online self-service platform which enables retailers and advertisers to improve their own product feeds across marketplaces.
He said: “There are not many companies like us that exist in this region but there is such a demand for this type of service.
“Bases like One Trinity Green are great because it’s important to try and retain the tech talent we have in the North East and make businesses like us aware of the support that’s available.”
