Shields ferry suspended due to high winds
The weather has got the better of the Shields Ferry.
The service has Tweeted that it has been forced to suspend operations as a result of the high winds.
Gusts of up to 40mph are expected this evening.
And a yellow warning for wind is in place for the region from noon until midnight tomorrow.
The ferry service has apologised for the inconvenience and says it is making arrangements for replacement buses but is appealing to travellers to seek alternative arrangements in the meantime.
