Metro service resumes between Bede and South Shields after signalling problem
Metro passengers faced disruption this morning after a signalling problem halted trains between Bede and South Shields.
Nexus, the operator of the Tyne and Wear Metro service, confirmed that trains between the two stations were suspended in both directions at around 9am on Wednesday, April 7.
Passengers were asked to use the number 26 and 27 Go North East bus services which accepted Metro tickets during this time.
Metro has apologised for the inconvenience.
A Nexus spokesman said: “Metro services were suspended between Bede and South Shields for about 40 minutes on Wednesday morning due to a signalling problem.
“We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused to customers.”
