South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade welcomed a group of visitors from Germany over the weekend.

The 50-strong group were part of a live entertainment event in South Marine Park.

They teamed up with two local women choirs groups - Harton Harmonisers and Customs Voices - to celebrate 75 years of the twin town partnership between Wuppertal and South Tyneside.

The open day, which took place on Sunday, July 5, was the second of five open days throughout the summer where the public are invited to meet the volunteer team and learn about the vital life saving work they do.

The next open day will take place on Sunday, August 2.
