BBC weather presenter shares tip for tracking lightning as the region is hit with thunderstorms
As the North East was hit by heavy rain showers, along with thunder and lightning on Monday, May 10, the TV presenter shared her tip.
As the storms hit the region, BBC weather presenter Jen Bartram has shared on Twitter a way that members of the public can track the lightning as it hits the North East.
In a tweet, she said: “There’s quite a bit of lightning from these showers today.
“http://Lightningmaps.org is a great site that can help you follow them in real time – the little yellow dots pop up every time lightning is detected."
When using the website, you can see yellow dots marking where lightning hits all across the globe.
According to the Met Office, the electrical storms are predicted to last for much of the afternoon but are expected to die down towards the evening.
