No date has yet been announced for the broadcast of the critically acclaimed show’s next series, but filming is complete.

ndrew was unable to say too much to the Gazette about it, although he also worked with another North East talent Jake Jarratt, “a fantastic actor” according to Andrew.

By complete contrast Andrew is currently filming for the third series of Daddy Issues, the BBC sitcom set in Stockport starring David Morrissey and Aimee Lou Wood. Andrew is cast as a police officer.

Andrew, a former student at Harton Sixth Form, took four years to be accepted for the Manchester School of Theatre where only 30 from 2,000 applicants are successful. Former students there include Julie Walters, Steve Coogan and David Threlfall. He graduated in 2020.

He is also a director who recently worked on Tom Kelly’s play Jarrow Marches at The Alberta in Jarrow.

Andrew’s is from a theatrical family who have been involved with the Westovians for generations. His grandmother Beryl Henderson was a well-known amateur actress in the town and his mam, Julie Dawson, is heavily involved behind the scenes.

Andrew’s other upcoming work is closer to home.

He said: “Eleanor Chaganis, a friend of mine who’s also from South Shields, runs a company called Tree Stump Theatre. I’m going to be in Christmas With the Crackers for the under-7s at the Customs House with them (November 28 to December 24).

“I’ve always been proud to be from South Shields. Everywhere I go everyone seems to say people from the North East are class – and I happen to agree.

“There’s a certain camaraderie. When Jake and I went down to film for SAS we stuck together. Wherever you go you’ll always find someone from our neck of the woods.”
