Hebburn Town confirm return of Hartlepool United prospect

A familiar face has returned to Hebburn Town.

Hebburn Town FC have completed the loan signing of Hartlepool United youngster Campbell Darcy just months after he helped them to a historic promotion into the National League North.

The versatile wing-back initially joined the Hornets during the early stages of their successful bid for the Northern Premier League Premier Division title win last season before returning to the Trustmark Group Stadium for the final months of the campaign. Darcy spoke of his delight at the part he played in securing a historic title win and both parties were believed to be keen to secure another loan deal during the summer months.

However, the 20-year-old made a short-term loan switch to Hebburn’s National League North rivals Spennymoor Town ahead of the season before returning to Pools in early September. After making a solitary substitute appearance in the recent home defeat against Tamworth, Darcy will now hope to earn regular game-time with Hebburn and Hornets boss Daniel Moore believes he and his coaching staff can get the best out of the youngster.

He told The Gazette: “I know what his strengths are and I think he fits perfectly into the team we have. Last year, he was one of our best players when he came in because he fit in really well with the players on and off the pitch. We probably played him out of position if I am being honest - but he enjoyed his football with us. This year, we might see him in his favoured position and that can only help his development. He wants to come back here and he knows he is coming somewhere he knows he will be comfortable. Him and his family both love the place, we love them, and he’s in an environment where he knows he can relax and know exactly what we want from him as a young player. We know what we can get out of him and that will be the aim.”

Darcy’s move to Hebburn has led to fellow Pools youngster Kian Foreman being recalled by the National League club.
