No pressure on promotion chasing Hebburn Town - insists manager Daniel Moore

Hebburn Town will host Northern Premier League rivals FC United of Manchester on Saturday.

Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore has eased the pressure on his promotion-chasing squad ahead of Saturday’s home clash with FC United of Manchester.

The Hornets have enjoyed an overwhelming positive week after claiming a share of the points in visits to promotion rivals Warrington Rylands and Hednesford Town to retain their place at the top of the Northern Premier League Premier Division table.

Another sizeable test lies in wait for Moore and his players as they round off what has been a challenging seven days with a home clash against FC United of Manchester on Saturday - and the visitors can move level on points with Hebburn if they claim a win at the Trustmark Group Stadium.

However, there is understandable confidence and belief surrounding the Hornets squad - and Moore has insisted his players just need to ‘keep doing what they are doing’, rather than get carried away with talk of promotion.

He told The Gazette: “Rylands was a very difficult place to go so to go and back that up with a great results in a very difficult game, with a quick turnaround, with a difficult journey, it was exceptional from the boys.

“I knew Hednesford would come out and have a go because a lot of the recent noise has been about them. I said to the boys to just be Hebburn, just be us, just do what we do and keep doing out own thing. We deserved a point, anyone that watched the game would say that. They had a lot of the ball but I think we had the better opportunities and that point sets up for Saturday, which is another big game.

“There isn’t as much pressure on us and the worst case scenario this week was losing all three games but even if we had done that we’d still be in the mix so we just look to keep our standards high and we will go and have a go at it. I am so proud of them for what they are doing.”

Moore could consider rotating his squad as they look to round off a positive week and that could mean the likes of Joao Gomes, Olly Martin and Joe Oliver all come into contention for a start.
