Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore hoping to agree deal with trialist
Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore is hoping to add more new faces to his squad before the National League North season.
Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore is hoping to secure the services of trialist Alfie Henderson after he impressed during the Hornets’ pre-season friendly draw with National League neighbours Gateshead.
The former Salford City midfielder has earned senior experience during loan spells with the likes of Stalybridge Celtic, Witton Albion and Morpeth Town in recent seasons and became a free agent earlier this summer when his contract with the League Two club came to an end. The 21-year-old has impressed during Hebburn’s pre-season fixtures and found the net in the draw with the Heed as Moore’s men stepped up their preparations for the new National League North season.

The Hornets boss has been impressed with the midfielder and is keen to make his part of his squad ahead of a historic campaign at the Trustmark Group Stadium.
He told The Gazette: “We’ve had a couple of trialists in and one has been here a while. We really like the look of him and I like to cast an eye over people for a decent amount of time. I never sign anyone blind. Alfie, if you want to name him, he’s been fantastic since he has come and hopefully we can get something sorted with him because I think he will do well for us in the division and he will only get better.”
Moore praised his side for their second-half display against Gateshead as the two sides shared six goals in an entertaining pre-season fixture that gave both managers plenty of food for thought ahead of the new season.
He said: “It was a good workout for both sides. The first-half was like a proper pre-season game where both sides had the ball, moved it well, but nothing much happened and I didn’t really want that so we said to the lads to turn it into a realistic game and get after them, be aggressive and put it on them. There’s no point going into the league and changing what we are. We have to be horrible to play against and we did that and scored three good goals.”
Hebburn are back in action when they travel to Morpeth Town for their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday (2pm).
