Valentino Lazaro has a powerful message for Newcastle United fans
Valentino Lazaro has delivered a message to Newcastle United fans.
The winger is waiting to discover if, or when, the Premier League, which last week suspended its fixtures due to coronavirus, will resume.
Lazaro, signed on loan from Inter Milan in January, has backed the decision in a message to supporters on Twitter.
“It’s a difficult situation for all of us, but I think it’s the right decision to not continue playing right now,” said the 23-year-old, who scored in the club’s FA Cup win over West Bromwich Albion earlier this month. “We have a responsibility for ourselves and everybody else. Take care and stay safe!”
Newcastle sent players home for two weeks on Friday after the Premier League halted games until April 4. Lazaro and his team-mates have been given individual fitness programmes by the club, which is 13th in the league with 35 points.
