Kennie Malia wants Jarrow to go on the attack in Northern League opener
Jarrow kick off their 2026/27 Northern League season with a tough-looking visit to Chester-le-Street Town on Saturday afternoon.
Jarrow manager Kennie Malia is looking to go on the attack as his side kick off their Northern League Division Two campaign with a visit to Chester-le-Street Town on Saturday.
The Cestrians narrowly missed out on promotion into Division One last season when they suffered a penalty shoot-out defeat against Yarm and Eaglescliffe in the play-off final just 12 months after falling by the same method at the same stage against Thornaby. Malia has bolstered his attacking ranks with the signings of attacking trio Morgan Dart, Stephen Siyanbola and Luca Nelson - and he is adamant the trio can play a part in helping his side get ‘on the front foot’ for the season with a positive result at Moor Park.

He told The Gazette: “It’s a good start and we are looking forward to it. They were tipped to do well and possibly win the league last year and with the signings they have made, they will be seen in a similar way this season. We just want to get off the mark, we want those three points to get us going and we will attack the game.
“Last year, we didn’t really have an out-and-out centre forward and the lads that played there did really well. But we wanted to get in at least one striker in and we’ve gone and got two. It was an area that we felt needed improving and that will hopefully put us on the front foot because we know we have to make a strong start to the season.”
