Moore hails Hebburn Town FC character after historic Buxton win extends fine form
Hebburn Town earned a 2-1 win at National League North rivals Buxton to make it four games unbeaten.
Hebburn Town FC manager Daniel Moore insisted his side fully deserved their impressive win at Buxton as the Hornets’ remarkable introduction to life in the National League North continues.
After securing seven points from their first three games of a historic season, Moore’s men created yet another piece of club history as they earned their first ever away win in the second tier of the non-league game by collecting all three points from their visit to the Silverlands Stadium.

The Hornets made a positive start to the contest and they got their rewards with just nine minutes on the clock when Jake Charles continued his fine form in front of goal with a header that rounded off some impressive approach play. However, a period of pressure from the hosts ensured the game was level by the time the half-time whistle had been blown as Sisa Tuntulwana wiped out Hebburn’s advantage. But Moore’s side are made of stern stuff and they claimed the win their manager felt they deserved as Charles doubled his tally for the day by meeting a Liam Murray cross to head home his fourth goal in as many games.
Moore reflected on yet another positive performance as he praised his players the character they showed to secure a third win in four games.
He said: “It was a really good performance from the lads, I’m really pleased for them, they deserved it. The effort they’ve put in, the instruction they’ve taken on board, we knew we could hurt them. They had a spell in the first-half and they put us under a bit of pressure and Isaac has pulled off an unbelievable save, lads have defended really well and we said in the second-half to have that personality to get after them, put some pressure on. We did that and I thought we were comfortable. We frustrated them to the point they started going really long from deep and our lads defended the box really well. They’re a full-time team and we matched them in every department and more. It tells you something about our character.”
