'Absolutely no excuses' – Newcastle United fans are in positive mood after seeing Steve Bruce's Carabao Cup starting XI
Steve Bruce has named his Newcastle United team for the Carabao Cup quarter final tie at Brentford this evening – and he’s gone strong in his selections with a last four place at stake.
Can the Magpies make their first cup semi final since 2005 tonight? Fans on #NUFC Twitter have been having their say…
@ShaunIrving_ - “Strong XI, it’s a shame though that we’ll be deep in our own box terrified of little old Brentford...”
@megatoon1892 – “Basically full strength can’t knock the team.”
@SimplyAlmiron – “Good team. Miggy in the 10! Let’s get into the semi final HWTL.”
@Magpie24_7 – “Full strength. Please don't sit off them! A high pressing side we always struggle against when we sit off.”
@sixhourssouth – “If this team can't beat a decent Championship side, then we might as well just accept relegation.”
@MikeBakr – “Strongest team possible so no excuse not to have over 30% possession against a team in a lower division.”
@Seubz – “To be fair that’s probably the strongest team apart from Lascelles and Maxi.”
@Carl_TftG – “4-2-3-1? With Miggy having a free role?! I certainly hope so.”
@TheNUFCMags – “Surely enough to get the win!”
@sixhourssouth – “Looks like a 4 4 2 tonight with Almiron up top with Wilson. I think we'll be too much for Brentford tonight.”
@shaneyr34 – “Probably the best team line up I’ve seen in a while! Just needed it to include ASM.”
@PaulNic_Journo – “Very strong #nufc line-up tonight, and Brentford not starting Ivan Toney. Absolutely no excuses if we don't win this game! Zero... zilch... none!”
