Alan Shearer brilliantly sums up Steve Bruce's big problem at Newcastle United in just 10 seconds

That’s how Alan Shearer summed up Bruce’s situation on Match of the Day after Newcastle United ended their Premier League season with a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at St James’s Park yesterday.

Bruce – who spoke to owner Mike Ashley after the final whistle – again called for “clarity” on a proposed £300million takeover of the club after the game.

The club is having to draw up transfer plans not knowing whether Ashley – or Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund – will be bankrolling it next season.

And former United striker Shearer said: “It’s not fair on him. It’s not fair on the football club. It’s not fair on the fans. He does’t know whether he’s going to be shopping in Lidl or Harrods next season. A decision needs to be made.”
