The result means that the Magpies currently sit eight points clear of West Brom with seven games to go, they also have a far superior goal difference. United are six clear of Fulham, who travel to Arsenal on Sunday.
Former boss Sam Allardyce, however has namechecked the Magpies as he delivers a Premier League relegation message about his West Bromwich Albion side.
Allardyce, who was the first manager wantaway owner Mike Ashley sacked at the start of his near 14-year tenure, mentioned Steve Bruce & Co’s Sunday win over Burnley when talking about his side’s own chances of survival.
As ever, though, we’ve got all of the latest transfer and takeover talk from Newcastle and around the top-flight:

5. Joelinton's name was mentioned with a move to Spurs by one pundit
Steve Howey has delivered his verdict on Joelinton to Transfer Tavern: “I’m a bit surprised at his statement. The frustrating thing about Joelinton is he’s six-foot-one and a big strong boy with a good touch, and you see him at times and he shrugs people off the ball, but other times you could just blow him over. “The question is why can’t he do it consistently? As I said, one performance doesn’t all of a sudden mean he should be playing for Tottenham Hotspur.” Photo: Stu Forster
