5. Marcus Thuram
Allan Saint-Maximin has been doing his best to tempt the Borussia Monchengladbach forward to Tyneside. And whilst Howe has poured cold water on speculation over a move for the Frenchman, it is impossible to deny the huge talent Thuram has at his disposal. Able to play through the middle or out wide, Thuram would offer great quality anywhere across Newcastle’s front-three and his physicality means he is ready made for Premier League football. 6. Ivan Fresneda
Newcastle’s interest in the young Spaniard makes a lot of sense. He is very highly-rated, has experience in a very tough league and will act as a solid back-up option to Kieran Trippier - someone he will undoubtedly learn a whole heap from playing and training alongside.
