Callum Wilson returns to Newcastle - for one sweet reason
Callum Wilson had something of a sweet tooth on his visit to Newcastle this week.
Former Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson swapped goals for gateaux on his return to Tyneside this week.
Wilson left Newcastle at the end of his contract last summer, but both the club and the city still hold a special place in his heart after a memorable five-year spell on Tyneside.
The 34-year-old scored 49 goals in 130 appearances, helping the Magpies to remain in the Premier League before twice qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Carabao Cup.

Wilson was back at St James' Park last month as a West Ham United player, featuring in a 3-1 defeat before later attending former teammate Kieran Trippier's farewell celebrations.
Less than four weeks later and Wilson has found himself back in the North East once again, this time for a reason far more important than football... Cake collection duty.
Wilson visited Cute as Cake in Wallsend and posed for photos that were shared to their Facebook page with the caption “Lovely seeing a familia face back”.
Callum Wilson searching for a new club
The nine-capped England international is understood to be on the lookout for a new club this summer, but he won’t be returning to Newcastle, even if the cakes are good!
West Ham were relegated from the Premier League and a statement released by Wilson on social media seemed to confirm he’ll be leaving when his contract expires on June 30.
“I felt really good and positive coming into this season, and I believe I could have contributed more given the opportunity,” Wilson wrote. “As you could see, my time on the pitch was very limited at times, but that was out of my control. I’ve always trained hard, kept my integrity, and given my all whenever I’ve been allowed to wear the iconic Claret and Blue shirt.
“I’m sad and extremely disappointed that it has ended this way. This club deserves so much better because there are so many unbelievable people behind the scenes that you fans don’t always get to see.
“For now, all I can say is thank you. Thank you to everyone who supported us. Your passion is amazing, and I truly hope you return to the Premier League, where you belong, as soon as possible.”
