Christian Atsu marks rare Newcastle United appearance with a goal
Atsu, restored to the club’s 25-man Premier League squad in February ahead of Henri Saviet following the departure of DeAndre Yedlin, scored for the Under-23s in their 2-1 defeat to Leeds United.
The 29-year-old winger, in the final year of his contract, last scored in the Premier League on May 4, 2019 when he netted in a 3-2 home defeat for Liverpool.

Hide AdAtsu – who joined Newcastle, initially on loan, from Chelsea in 2016 – is yet to feature since returning to the club’s Premier League squad. The Ghana international will leave the club as a free agent in the summer.
Meanwhile, midfielder Elliot Anderson, promoted to the first-team squad by head coach Steve Bruce earlier this season, also played for Chris Hogg's side at Thorp Arch. Bruce last week suggested that Anderson, 18, was not a contender to start a game between now and the end of the season.
