Janmaat had signalled to come off injured after slipping in the build-up to the home side's second goal.

After the match, United defender Jamaal Lascelles had called for more "heart and desire" from the team, which was second-bottom of the Premier League at the time.

The right-back took questions from Watford supporters at a fans forum event at Vicarage Road last night.

The Holland international and club-mate Ben Foster were asked about playing at the stadium, and Janmaat made an unfavourable comparison with the atmosphere at St James's Park.

"It’s massively different to my former club," Janmaat is reported as saying. "Newcastle fans expect too much and can moan quickly."

Janmaat missed Newcastle's 1-0 win over Watford earlier this month through injury.
