Well, the abject nature in which Newcastle surrendered their place in the last four of the competition has seen many United fans point their anger very much at manager Steve Bruce. Here’s what they’ve had to say on #NUFC Twitter...

@TawsyToon – “I don't think I’ve enjoyed 1 game under Steve Bruce no tactics, no idea. I feel sorry for some of the players win or lose #BruceOut.”

@armstrong_allan – “Awful result, boring to watch. Do the decent thing and resign Steve Bruce!”

@SeanReesNUFC – “If pundits continue to say Bruce is doing an amazing job after drawing against 10 man Fulham and losing against Brentford reserves then they are clearly just trolling at this point.”

@jack_ruthers – “The best thing for #nufc and #bruce is that we the fans can’t be in the stadium atm.”

@Geordioca – “Does that even register as a 'cup shock'?”
