The Frenchman has been without a club since his release by Rennes in the summer.

Having seen a move to Ligue 1 Nantes fall through last month, Ben Arfa, who spent four years on Tyneside, is on the verge of signing for Genoa. The Serie A outfit are managed by Ben Arfa’s PSG teammate Thiago Motta.
