The Newcastle United defender – who had knee surgery in April – has been named in Steve Bruce's starting XI for this afternoon’s home game along with Jonjo Shelvey and Miguel Almiron, who missed last weekend’s defeat to Burnley. Jetro Willems is not involved.

Asked about Almiron, head coach Bruce said: “We’d love him to score more goals. He works every day as though it’s his last. He’s a wonderful professional. I have no problems with Almiron because of what he gives the team.”
