Injury problems add up for David Moyes ahead of Newcastle United game
Injury problems are stacking up for David Moyes ahead of West Ham United’s visit to St James’s Park.
Steve Bruce, Moyes’s counterpart at relegation-threatened Newcastle United welcomed back Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.
Moyes, already without Angelo Ogbonna, Declan Rice and Michail Antonio, lost Aaron Cresswell and Mark Noble in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Leicester City.
“My biggest concern would be we really can’t afford to lose too many more players through injury, because it will affect our performances as we go along,” said Moyes, whose side is fourth in the Premier League – and pushing for Champions League qualification.
Noble – who suffered an elbow injury against Leicester – could return against Newcastle along with Ogbonna, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. The influential Rice, meanwhile, is facing several more weeks on the sidelines with the knee injury he suffered playing for England last month.
