5. LB: Jamal Lewis
A new era under Howe may mean a clean slate at Newcastle and Lewis may be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this. Whilst Ritchie has played this role all season, and knows Howe well, he may be asked to play higher up the field, giving Lewis the opportunity to impress. Photo: Michael Regan

6. RM: Ryan Fraser
Howe’s appointment at Newcastle could be the catalyst for Fraser to meet the high expectations placed on him at St James’s Park. His link-up with Callum Wilson could prove invaluable this season if they are able to strike up their connection again. Photo: Ian MacNicol

7. CM: Joe Willock
As a dynamic ball carrying option who can spring up with a goal or two, as we saw at the end of last season, Willock looks like a perfect option in the centre of midfield under Howe. Photo: Stu Forster

8. CM: Isaac Hayden
Hopes of attacking displays at St James’s Park are back but they must also be balanced by solid defensive showings. Hayden would add steel and physicality to the midfield and help balance out the more attacking players in the team. Photo: George Wood
