Watford came from behind on Saturday to win 2-1 thanks to two Troy Deeney penalties. Dwight Gayle had given Steve Bruce’s side a first-half lead with his third goal of the season.

The loss followed a 5-0 midweek defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Bruce had got the response he had wanted before the break at Vicarage Road, and Lascelles, United’s captain, was frustrated at the second-half performance.

"It was a lack of concentration that cost us,” said Lascelles. "Every game we play we want to win. To be honest, I thought we'd bounced back from Man City, but mistakes cost us, and we just have to get it right for the next game."

On the penalties, Lascelles told NUFC TV: “In the Premier League, you can't be gifting goals like that.”
